Care Instructions for Indigo-Dyed Products

1. Washing

  • For the first wash, we recommend hand washing or using the delicate cycle on your washing machine.

  • Turn the item inside out, fold it, and place it in a laundry net.

  • Avoid washing together with white or light-colored items, as color transfer may occur.

  • Although we conduct soaping (post-dye washing) before delivery, we recommend washing separately for the first few times. After several washes, color fading and transfer will become less noticeable.

  • To preserve the deep indigo color, please use detergents without bleach or use mild detergents designed for delicate garments.

  • Note: During washing, the water may appear slightly yellow. This is due to the natural alkali (lye) contained in the indigo dye solution, derived from hardwood ash, and is completely safe.

  • Note: When using a washing machine, indigo pigment may adhere to the drum. Please rinse the drum promptly after use.

  • 2. Drying

  • Do not use a tumble dryer.

  • Dry the garment inside out, away from direct sunlight, preferably in the shade.

  • Natural dyes are sensitive to prolonged exposure to sunlight, which may cause fading or discoloration.

  • 3. Storage

  • Store indigo-dyed items in a place out of direct sunlight.

  • For long-term storage, fold the item inside out, wrap it in a bag or paper, and keep it completely shielded from light to prevent fading.

  • 4. Use

  • Indigo-dyed fabrics are especially vulnerable to friction when damp.

  • Moisture, perspiration, or humidity may cause color transfer to other garments.
